Adjacent slopes have pitch pine woodlands and mixed chestnut oak - pine / ericad forest.;East facing sandstone pavement outrop on dip slope of North Fork Mountain. Community is open dwarf woodland with mixed pines and a few clumps of grass and sedge. Site is probably subject to high-energy flash floods with flows contained between levees formed on sides of chute. "Bed Rock River" Lichen cover and diversity are low. Flow areas show shiny scour abrasions.
Representativeness
Small patch of steep sandstone pavement glade. Plot includes areas of bare bedrock and areas of stabalized cobble and gravel. Slide is about 50 m wide.
